Dimensions and business data
Accounting dimensions are like tags, or data, that you can add to each actual or budget transaction so that they can be grouped for analysis purposes.
There are seven predefined dimensions and corresponding business data directories:
The values of the dimensions are specified in the source document or budget that is posting the business transaction.
Item groups and business partner classifiers are used to categorise items and business partners. Multiple classifiers can be used.
Bank accounts and warehouses are sub-accounts of the “Cash at bank” and “Inventories” accounts in the chart of accounts.
As a result, the following dimensions can be used for analysis, reporting and budgeting:

- Account hierarchy
- Business transaction
- Legal entitiy
- Cost center
- Cost center hierarchy
- Segment
- Project
- Project hierarchy
- Business partner
- Business partner categories 1 (e.g. by type)
- Business partner categories 2 (e.g. by country)
- Employee
- Item
- Item type (product, service, fixed asset, non-financial data)
- Item groups 1 (by usage, for example)
- Item groups 2 (by service type, for example)
- Item properties (such as colour, production, features)
